A Love As Yet Unspoken
Words and Music by Mark Edwards

They said she was the happiest
They said her life was blessed
So she played the game they wanted played
And left her, tears suppressed.
She was born the youngest one
Her parent’s joy and pride
But never did she feel the way
She was told she'd feel inside.
In her wake a shadow loomed
Her sister's passed her by
They never seemed to notice
As the tears formed in her eyes.
She met him once upon a night
As she openned up the door
But her sister soon was by his side
So she left to dream once more.
She'd see him on occasion
They chatted now and then
The sparkle grew bright in her eyes
And her dream came back again.
But still the fear would linger on
Her dreams were ill-perceived
Her sister meant much more to him
At least so she believed.
Chorus:
He left that night looking for an answer
A veil of doubt had scorched his very soul
...'and sent him blindly on his way.
Another girl couldn’t charm him so
Her sparkling eyes embedded in his Soul
He planned to return in a little while
And plant a kiss and tell her with a smile
You sure have grown since I last saw you, girl
I love you girl, I love you
I love you girl, I love you
One day she thought to herself
She'd ask him how he felt
She knew held have to answer her
When he’d see her cards were dealt.
She'd play her ace and draw two more
and the truth would set her free
But truths are better left untold
A well-known strategy
Or at least it seemed to be
So a tear formed deep within her soul
See, pain it ain't skin deep
And as fate is destined to occur
You can't sow until you've reaped.
Tho, Jesus said don't hide your light
But let it shine for all
A lamp can only burn so bright
Before darkness comes to call.
(Chorus)
This love as yet unspoken
Has now stood the test of time
It's mellowed it, embittered it
And left it without rhyme.
As one can't live without oneself
The hidden can't be seen
And a love that started out that way
Would become a final dream.
There's a time for every purpose
Under heaven’s golden sun
But still no purpose can exist
Until the story has begun.
She met him once upon a night
As she opened up the door
But now a dark and silent night
She'd see his face no more.
(Chorus)
